The crow has flown and I’ve been asked to fill the nest – and a big nest it is to fill, in more ways than one. The only guideline they gave me – don’t insult anyone (well, I guess I already broke that rule). What do you expect? Come on now, I’m an American. We are proud to announce that North American General Agents is now a BIMCO member.
Copenhagen, Denmark based BIMCO (The Baltic and International Maritime Council) is the largest of the international shipping associations providing a wide range of services to its global membership of stakeholders who have vested interests in the shipping industry, including shipowners, operators, managers, brokers and agents.
The association’s main objective is to facilitate the commercial operations of its membership by means of developing standard contracts and clauses, and providing quality information, advice, and education. BIMCO promotes fair business practices, free trade and open access to markets and is a strong advocate for the harmonization and standardization of all shipping related activity. Accredited as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with all relevant United Nations agencies and other regulatory entities, BIMCO actively promotes the application of international agreed regulatory instruments.

World Wide Shipagencies Association

In 2011, NAGA became the exclusive USA East Coast representative member of the World Wide Shipagencies Association (WWSA). The WWSA was established in September 2007, when several ship agents took the initiative to create WWSA, a registered Antwerp-based nonprofit association. The association operates as a co-operative of industry professionals. The WWSA is driven by an agenda that enables a highly transparent exchange of relevant maritime information amongst members based in to different countries and across myriad trade sectors around the Globe. To date the organization counts 35 members, representing 35 countries on its member’s roster.

New GreenSea Pool

As of 01 January 2012, Green Reefers ASA, Bergen and Seatrade group of companies established the new GreenSea Pool. GreenSea provides competitive and commercially attractive specialized refrigerated cargo services to shippers in response to evolving market environments. The commercial activities are handled independently by the new established GSC – GreenSea Chartering B.V.b.a. Both Seatrade and Green Reefers are equal partners in the GreenSea Pool and GreenSea Chartering.
